Nobody ever said that studying at Masters level is easy but it is not always the academic challenges of postgraduate study that puts people off. Often the problem of how to fund your Master’s is a major deterrent for many students.
The government has now introduced Masters level student loans for up to £10,000, but on top of your Undergraduate loan, which for some students could be up to £50,000 already, an additional £10,000 loan could also be quite a daunting prospect.
List of scholarships for postgraduate studies
Whilst there are not as many scholarships available for study at postgraduate level as there are for undergraduates, there are still some good ones to be had. First and foremost you should check out what your university offers to its alumni. Typically, most universities offer some kind of tuition fee discount to their graduates up to 50%, with a few even offering full tuition fee discounts.
We have pulled together a list which serve as examples of how you could significantly reduce the amount of additional money you might need to find. You can search for current scholarships on our database of postgraduate funding. There are also literally thousands of smaller charities and trusts in the UK which offer grants either for educational or welfare purposes. Each one will have its own specific criteria and you will need to identify those for which you might be eligible. Director of Programme Scholarship – BPP University

Women in Business Scholarship – University of Surrey
Up to 50% discount on tuition fees. Open to female candidates who can demonstrate their contribution to business and evidence a drive to support other female candidates in future. It is open to candidates joining either the Full Time or Executive MBA programmes.

The Business School Dean’s Scholarship – Bournemouth University
50% tuition fee discount. Open to any UK/EU student applying for a full time taught Masters in the School of business. You need to be able to show an outstanding academic record, holding a minimum of a UK upper second-class honours (2i) degree (or overseas equivalent) that is relevant to your postgraduate study.
ENGINEERING & COMPUTING – POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
School of Computing alumni legacy scholarship – Teeside University
A full tuition fee scholarship Open to graduates of Teeside University who are undertaking their first Postgraduate course of study and are UK students studying full time.
Women in Engineering Masters Scholarships – Brunel University
You must be a female UK/EU student applying for one of the relevant MSc full-time Engineering courses listed; You must have an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Science or Mathematics, and be eligible for associate or graduate membership of one of the UK Engineering Institutions.
The Panasonic Trust Fellowships
£8,000 scholarships open to applicants who have an offer to study a Masters on one of the listed courses and have membership of a professional Engineering Institution accredited by the Engineering Council as a licence member institution.
Petrofac/RAE Scholarship
£9,000 scholarships open to applicants who have an offer to study a Masters on one of the listed courses and have membership of a professional Engineering Institution accredited by the Engineering Council as a licence member institution.

A full tuition fee scholarship open to any student registered for a GDL, LPC or BPTC. You will be required to take an online assessment and submit an essay on a law related topic.

Up to 50% tuition fee discount open to students who have a place on one of the specified courses in the law school
