If you applied to university and did not get any offers, don’t worry, all is not lost. You may still be able to apply for some more through UCAS Extra.
UCAS Extra opens on February 25th and allows students who are not holding any offers and have heard back from all five of their choices, to add an Extra choice. If you are eligible to do this, it will give you the option of adding one Extra choice when you log in to Track.
With Extra you can only make one additional choice at a time and you then have to wait for the university concerned to respond. If they do not make you an offer you can then apply for another one and so on.
Think carefully before choosing
If you did not receive any offers from your first five choices it may be worth giving some careful thought as to why that may have been before making an additional choice. Did you apply for courses that had grade requirements that you are not likely to make? Did you check that you meet the subject requirements for each course before you applied? Perhaps your personal statement did not really reflect an interest in that subject? Unfortunately with Extra you cannot make any changes to your personal statement so if you are choosing a completely different subject, it make be worth contacting the admissions team directly before you apply to discuss this with them.
If you don’t hear back from your Extra choice within 21 days you can either wait or replace it with another Extra choice instead.
Don’t worry, you will still be eligible to go through Clearing if you don’t make the grades for your Extra choice.
Extra opens on February 25th and closes on July 5th.
